TEACH TO THE TEST with Travis Dixon
This workshop is designed to help you (a) understand the new IB Psych course assessments and (b) how to teach the best course possible.
No fluff.
No nonsense.
Just simple strategies.
We'll work backwards, beginning by breaking down each exam question, then figuring out how to answer them and finally how to teach students to write excellent answers. The goal is to boost your confidence with this new course.
The irony? I actually believe the best way to prepare students for the exams (i.e. teach to the test) is to build the most engaging and interesting Psychology course possible and sometimes that means going beyond the IB Guide. In this workshop, I can explain why I've included units like Cults, Couples, Criminology and Morality and why these will help with exams.
Full disclosure from Travis: I will need your help during this workshop. I know the guide and the content inside and out - it's what I do every day, and I've been studying it for years. While I have 12 years' experience teaching the old IB Psych courses, I have no experience in the classroom teaching this new curriculum. I want to be upfront about this from the beginning. I know what I think will work based on experience and simple pedagogy, but every participant can help by sharing their real world questions, problems, successes and failures.

- Tea, coffee and snacks
- Teachers workbook (digital and hard copy)
- Heaps of free teaching resources and ideas
Teachers must make own travel and accommodation arrangements. We will provide heaps of information and support with this.
Over 12 sessions from 9am - 4:00pm, we will cover:
- Paper 1, 2 and 3
- Decoding the new curriculum
- Tips for developing critical thinking (and covering the "concepts")
- IA and EE tips
